This ground floor store is located at Votanikos, the semi-industrial and vibrant neighbourhood of alternative communities and intellectuals. The unpretentious design integrates the past industrial character of the neighbourhood, incorporating the corrugated metal panels used at construction sites. To establish the new function of the eatery we created a curvy line to separate the dining area from the kitchen while maintaining the existing building shell. The spiral staircase which leads to the mezzanine was preserved and dominates the dining area. Large corrugated metal panels rise to the ceiling and are used to hide the kitchen and the preparation of the food. The facade is composed of large windows, which open above a two sided table where one can order food and enjoy a quick meal while standing outside the store at the pedestrian.
